Tuesday Morning Quarterback

Player of the Week: At last, the breakout game everyone was waiting for. Saints RB Reggie Bush put on quite a show Sunday against the 49ers as he rushed for 37 yards with 3 TD's and had a whopping 131 receiving yards with another score. You knew it was going to be a big day for him on the Saints first TD drive. On a 3rd and 7, he had a fantastic second effort and turned in a 14 yard reception that brought it down to the Niners' 1. He carried it in for the score on the very next play. With the fantasy playoffs coming into full swing, he couldn't have picked a better time to live up to his hype.

News & Notes

Nice to see Jeff Garcia come out and silence the cries for A.J. Feeley. Way to be supportive, Philly. Not that I think Garcia will continue on this path but it does give a glimmer of hope for Donte Stallworth and Reggie Brown owners -- especially here in the playoffs.

The Jay Cutler era didn't start off with quite the bang but it had it's encouraging moments. He's going to push through his growing pains with another tough matcup against the Chargers next week but if you're still around in the playoffs, he could reward you with future matchups against Arizona and the Bengals.

Are the wheels falling off the bandwagon in Big D? Not much love for Tony Romo as he looks much less than spectacular against a still broken down Giants defense.

Upset Central all over the league as...

The Chiefs defense just crumbles against the NFL's new flavor of the month, Browns QB Derek Anderson, who steals this week's thunder from some of the other rookie golden boys like Romo and Cutler. But not Vince Young who...

Once again leads the Titans in an improbable comeback, this time to put away AFC powerhouse Indy. While his reality is looking hot, Vince isn't doing it just yet in the fantasy world. His rushing yardage definitely helps you keep your eye on him for his upcoming game with Houston.

Come to think of it, Garcia and Co. can be lumped in here too.

Cards over the Rams? So much to look at. Bulger, Jackson and Holt all produce, Leinart, Fitz and Anquan don't, and what about that 'Zona ground game?!? Edge rushes for an improbable 115 yards. Huge right? That is, up until Marcel Shipp steals all your TDs. If you thought you were getting screwed by drafting Edge before, watch what happens now.

The Chargers narrowly avoid the upset as ::yaaaaaawn:: LaDanian rushes for 170+ yards and 2 more TDs. Wow. Only 2 on the day? Must be slipping. Only 3 more to break the record and only 4 games to do it. Hmmmm. I wonder...

Anyone else fall for that "Joe Horn is active" crap? It's a good thing LTD carries my fantasy team. With the wideout situation the way it is in New Orleans, I think we're in for a lot more Reggie Bush highlights. Let the games begin!

Welcome back, Mr. Vick. We've been expecting you. Now if we could just have a teeeeeeeeny bit more please.

Oh sure...now all the so called experts are questioning Jon Kitna's skills and decision making. This year's super sleeper is showing why he's always been a super stinker. One good year in Cincy does not a QB make.

And speaking of not making a QB, Rex Grossman is just plain gross. Negative points this week following a goose egg last week? His second week with negative points this year? It's a good thing Lovie Smith keeps saying that Rex is his quarterback because none of us see it.

The only redeeming things about that Houston/Oaktown matchup were the defenses and no one I know started either one of them. Just useless.

Like I said before...I just don't understand the Jaguars anymore. One week they stink against a bottom feeder, the next they come out and smack down an upstart. I just can't predict them. Nice to see super sleeper Matt Jones wake up for a day. He'll be listed again as such in the 2007 guide so be careful.

Is Fast Willie breaking down while the Steelers trudge through a disastrous defense of their Super Bowl title? Keep your eyes on him. I fhe doesn't put up a good showing agaisnt the Browns next week, his owners could be in for it. The matchups don't get any easier.

And lastly....J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!!! Chad was looking good. Man-genius going with Houston in the backfield looked...well....genius. I don't know if my heart can take this down the stretch. They've broken it so many times before.
