Commentary: HyperBowl

Playoffs. It’s what we draft for, what we trade for, what we add/drop for, what we go head-to-head for. It’s why we play this game.

Playoffs. Full of possibility, where records are vanquished and every worthy team has a chance to advance, to win it all, to have their name engraved on a trophy.

Playoffs. Three weeks of elite talent matching up and battling it out until the fat lady sings, until Fat Jessica Alba becomes Into The Blue Alba and graces one team with the sweet sounds of victory.

Sometimes the best team wins out, sometimes a dark horse surprises all.

Sometimes heroes become MVPs, sometimes supervillains unexpectedly emerge, to the delight of some and to the chagrin of others.

Getting in is always the goal, no sometimes about it. However, getting in is never easy. You have to earn it ever week along the way, right down to the last week of the regular season, Week Thirteen.

Welcome to Week Thirteen.

I hope things have fallen into place for all of you to make it a week filled with intrigue and a weekend full of possibility.

It has for me. I need a win this week and I’m in. Simple as that. A win and I’m dancing. How great is that?

It’s been a rough year for me, what with a backfield of Ronnie Brown & Carnell Williams. On draft day, I was delighted at those names, excited by all that potential. Ugh. Also drafted McNabb in the mid-rounds, which was great until two weeks ago. His injury sent me reeling and has me pinning my playoff hopes on the likes of David Carr, Trent Green, and, now, Jay Cutler. Yep, I hate this game.

However, I drafted a solid WR corps in Reggie Wayne and Roy Williams, plus I traded for Donald Driver. I stuck with Chris Cooley early on and my patience has been paying off lately. I also have Mr. Joseph Addai on my roster and I did indeed play him this past weekend. Yep, I love this game!

That’s it in a nutshell: I love this game, I hate this game. Simple as that. How great is that?

Now let’s hope this weekend, this game loves me. Or should I say, loves us all.

Good luck to all and to all good luck.
