One For the Waiver Hounds
2005's leading rusher, Shaun Alexander, takes a seat for the next few weeks with a broken bone in his foot.
Some key injuries and a few other developments happened on Sunday. If you can make pickups today, then you're going to want to get ahead of your competition here. Red = injured/replaced player; Green = player to be picked up as replacement; Blue = second option for pickup
1. Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander is out indefinitely (possibly 4-6 weeks) with a broken foot. His primary backup is Maurice Morris and he'll get the carries until Alexander gets back. Word of Caution: The Seahawks play in Chicago for week 4 and then are on a bye in week 5. You shouldn't expect anything out of him until week 6 at the earliest.
2. Tampa QB Chris Simms is probably out for the year after having his spleen removed in emergency surgery last night. Grab Bruce Gradkowski, the primary backup, but if he fails, Tim Rattay is the next in line.
3. Niners rookie TE Vernon Davis is out atleast 4 weeks with a broken fibula. Eric Johnson, who had a big game in week 3 should be a nice pick up.
4. Also for San Fran, RB Frank Gore left Sunday's game with an abdominal strain. Watch his status this week as you may need to pick up Michael Robinson or Maurice Hicks.
5. Vince Young and Matt Leinart could both see starting action this week which puts Kerry Collins and Kurt Warner on the bench.
6. If Donte Stallworth can't go again, then Greg Lewis or even Hank Baskett may be worth a look.
7. Too bad Laurence Maroney is probably taken in your league, but I'm sure Kevin Faulk is available. Corey Dillon has an arm injury and may miss week 4.
